What is E-Invoice (Turkey)?
Definition
E-invoice is a legally valid electronic invoice issued and stored digitally through Turkey's Revenue Administration (GİB) system.
How Does E-Invoicing Work?
E-invoices are issued through Turkey's Revenue Administration (GİB), signed with a fiscal seal, and delivered to the recipient's mailbox. Every step is digital.
- Created in UBL-TR format as XML
- Signed with fiscal seal or e-signature (legal validity)
- Delivered to the recipient's mailbox via GİB
- Stored digitally for the legally required retention period
In Turkey, all businesses exceeding an annual revenue threshold and certain industries must use e-invoicing. The threshold is updated periodically; the current limit should be checked on the official GİB site.
Zoho and Turkey E-Invoice Compliance
Zoho Books is a global accounting product without native GİB integration. Turkey compliance requires additional solutions:
- Third-party integrator — GİB-approved systems like Foriba, Logo e-Invoice, Paraşüt API
- API bridge — Zoho Books invoice data flows to the integrator via webhook
- Manual flow — for low-volume invoicing, export/import is sufficient
Zoho Books manages the entire accounting process; e-invoice integration is only needed at the official document issuance stage.
Why is E-Invoicing Important?
- Legal requirement — mandatory for businesses above the threshold
- Cost reduction — paper, postage, and archive expenses go to zero
- Speed — invoice reaches the recipient within seconds
- Error reduction — automatic validation lowers wrong-invoice risk
